The childcare provider field of work can be rewarding and fulfilling in so many ways. It brings joy to you each day to see the children grow and develop under your care.
The downside is if you are used to working in an administrative professional environment where you receive excellent compensation benefits and perks, it is difficult to work in an environment as an independent provider, on a part time basis, with absolutely no benefits (medical, dental). Where it's your word against the employer and they usually have the upper hand in any discussion. Benefits and job conditions discussed and not put in writing can and will be changed at any given moment as well as added responsibilities with no compensation.
The hard work and long hours sometimes goes unappreciated, and you seldom get any credit when milestones are reached and exceeded. Many employers expect nanny qualities but most times you are expected to perform tasks that should not be the job of a nanny but a housekeeper.
