Certified Nurse Midwife Reviews

What is it like working as a Certified Nurse Midwife?

January 2021
Great place to live, work and play!
Certified Nurse Midwife in Cary:
Pros: Wonderful walkable town. I love the walking trails, restaraunts of all types, and shopping. Everything I need is close by. The convenience of living and working in a city and still having a small town or tucked away in the woods feel.
Cons: Even though my commute is short - If I lived farther away the traffic would be annoying at peak hours.
March 2020
Many pros and some room for growth.
Certified Nurse Midwife in Durham:
Pros: I feel appreciated by my supervisors and patients. Unfortunately, Duke is still in the process of understanding and appreciating the roles of APPs in their organization. The L&D floors often view APPs as an extension of residents, which feel demeaning at time. This is definitely a work in progress and requires a lot of support from medical directors and our leadership.
Cons: Unclear job duties related to supervision and education. Do not receive the same (or even similar) benefits to our physician colleagues despite sharing responsibilities in education and supervision.
March 2017
Work.
Certified Nurse Midwife in Morgantown:
Pros: Plenty of work available for the entire family.
Cons: Cost of living is high. Major college in the town.
February 2017
A warm friendly place to raise a family.
Certified Nurse Midwife in Evansville:
Pros: Good caring people. And it's located within driving distance to 5 large metropolitan cities which provide culture and weekend entertainment.
Cons: Slow to change.
August 2015
Rewarding, Underpaid and Understood.
Certified Nurse Midwife:
Be vigilant and kind about educating nurses, doctors and administrators about CNMs. And that in the office we function as NP's, but have more education and skill set above an NP.
November 2014
Work politics.
Certified Nurse Midwife:
Get experience in high risk areas.
