Understaffed.
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA):
When you apply for jobs be sure to do your homework on the company for which you are applying. The medical field is full of drama. I enjoy home health more than nursing homes because I am able to provide the quality of care we are trained to give. In nursing homes it's rush rush rush and often times the residents are not getting the care they deserve. Most places do not staff enough cnas and because of this they get burnt out and call off a lot which just maleave the staffing problem worse. The position can be very rewarding. I enjoy my clients very much. I feel like I made a difference at the end of the day. I work for home health that has me at one location per day so I am not driving all over the place. Take time for yourself you will need to relax. Do use proper body mechanics or your going to get hurt .take breaks as needed when your very stressed. Be sincere with your clients residents and patients it can take you a long way. Do practice team work.
August 2015
Hard underpaid work with moral rewards.
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA):
Pros: Watching the progression of patients as they go through their rehab. Day to day and finally see at their discharge a hope for a complete recovery. Just knowing that I had a part in their recovery helps me to not focus so much on the back breaking work at minimum low pay at the same rate of fast food and retail jobs that do not help the sick and injured.
Cons: The back breaking work at minimum low pay at the same rate of fast food and retail jobs that do not help the sick and injured. Your expected to take on 15 patients with minimum assistance but expected to provide 100% total care despite workload.
August 2015
Mandatory overtime.
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA):
Be prepared to be mandated over when someone on the next shift calls in.
