What is it like working as a Certified Athletic Trainer?

Difficult.
Certified Athletic Trainer in Newport:
Pros: I get to work in collegiate athletics and provide healthcare to athletes in a competitive environment.
Cons: Severely under-resourced. Not nearly enough staff to provide appropriate care to the student-athletes. Negative professional relationships environment due to the department's lack of support.

Lackluster management with no operational/organizational structure.

Cons: Disorganized, no opportunity for career growth and advancement
January 2019
Certified Athletic Trainer:
Great coworkers, decent benefits. However, upper management does not understand job functions and has poor communication so it is hard to make any forward organizational progress. Compensation is below average with multiple responsibilities, but it is preferred that you get little to no overtime making for stressful days.

December 2015
That dedication does not match salary.
Certified Athletic Trainer:
I would suggest to have a dual degree or a backup plan in case athletic training does not work for you. Prepare to work long days and hours each August. Make sure you know the rules and regs for your state. Network network network. Have a positive attitude or this job will kill you. Good luck.
November 2015
Certified Athletic Trainer:
Pros: The school I work at. The Doctor that I own and work with on a regular basis. My supervisor who has a good understanding of what is realistic and not. Having sick and faction time.
Cons: Lack of others stepping up to help out. Currently feel like I am the only one who is willing to make last min changes for the best of the group. Lack of pay that comes with the more responsibility that I have been given.
