Busser Reviews
What is it like working as a Busser?
November 2017
Earns money on my schedule.
Busser in Calgary:
Pros: I work at my university bar as a part time job on top of my studies. Because its so close to where I study and has a lot of student employees, the employers are open to your schedule conflicts and can work around your schedule (pretty much). Most of the shifts are during the night so I can study/ do research during the day. The tips are meh (1.2% of daily tips) but it is still extra spending money.
Cons: I don't like the rowdy nights when a lot of party goers come to the bar, there is a lot of stuff to clean up, and usually not enough staff. You would think the tips are really good for those nights, but they are really not that much better than the quiet nights when less staff are on after splitting it amongst everyone. The late nights can get really late too, like 2-3am before you get home. If you have stuff to do the next day it can drain you really quickly. Also it's minimum wage, sometimes I feel like I am throwing away my time to get some money (cuz you can't do anything else on the job as it is fast paced)

Bus Boy Chronicles.
Busser in San Antonio:
Pros: As a busser, the best thing to do is help out the servers and cooks. Make sure they are all kept up and everything around them is clean and spotless. If we fall behind, they fall behind and we have to work as a team to keep the store from falling behind.
Cons: The dark side to being a busser is nothing really. The job is fairly simple and the staff is amazing. We all make sure we are all up to date on how the restaurant looks and how the customers are doing.
