What is it like working as a Biologist?

May 2022
Great work, terrible pay, will feel undervalued and exploited the more you do.
Biologist in St. Charles:
Pros: The actual work and freedom to innovate
Cons: Are stuck in entry level positions doing senior level work. Are always expected to do more without pay or title changes

Amazing, it's nice meeting new people, and new friends, everyday.

March 2019
Great Place with Biases.
Biologist in Bethesda:
Pros: Well, Bethesda is the city of the location of the workplace. However, If I am working I am not evaluating the city too much, but it is less congested and crime-ridden for the most part. Again, I lived there and my car was vandalized and broken into. Overall, Bethesda is a nice cosmopolitan place to work. However, I think its overpiced and racially biased.
Cons: N/A
January 2019
Need to provide more internal training for existing employees (outside of health and safety), rather than hire new employees.
Biologist in Montréal:
Pros: Flexibility
Cons: Focused on project completion rather than the development of employees career path.
January 2019
Biologist in Gaithersburg:
Pros: Close to highway
Cons: Far from other biotech
August 2017
Wacky Zoo World.
Biologist in Chicago:
Pros: I love working with different people across the country on zoo related biology and conservation efforts. My job involves customer service, data analysis, technical writing, project management and software testing/upkeep. I also get to travel quite a bit.
Cons: Being an NPO and trying to enact a corporate structure is hard for scientists apparently. Rules are not made clear or followed in terms of salaries, department structuring and business decisions are not always based on what's best but who they know. The pay for this position is extremely low for the city location and living is hard.
