What is it like working as an Audio Engineer?
July 2018
Great opertunity.
Audio Engineer in New York:
Pros: the endless amount of work
Cons: the city
March 2018
Hard work will bring you excitment!
Audio Engineer in Dubai:
Pros: In the field I work, you come across various ethnicites and cultures. And its dubai, lots of the places people would love to see and experience, especially the tourist attractions over a year, I would have been there (for work) atleast twice that year. A very multicultural society, so it is a very "eventful" country, work is in plenty. Food is never hard to find.
Cons: Long hours in our field and lack/ none of overtime pay. During season time (mainly during the summer), It gets very hectic with work and the heat doesnt help either. Transportation (metro) can be an issue during peak hours and taxis arent cheap. Cost of living is very high.
August 2017
Audio Engineer in Bloomington:

Cons: Traffic/commute, taxes, increase in the homeless population.
June 2017
Demand at least minimum wage annual salary.

February 2017
Working In The Mother City.
Audio Engineer in Cape Town:
Pros: Traffic in Cape Town is not as bad as other cities in the world. Living costs are greater than other parts of the country. The city is substantially more cosmopolitan compared to the rest of South Africa. The culture is fantastic and there is always something to do.
Cons: Living expenses are expensive.
January 2015
The work is inconsistent, but it's easy and can be fun!
Audio Engineer:
Pros: I like having my hands in the music on a technical level. I have been a musician all of my life, so I feel this comes to me very naturally. I am good at planning, troubleshooting, and identifying tasks, so I am comfortable being a leader during setup, sound check and breakdown.
Cons: My work is very seasonal. The hours drop off, and the employers have very little commitment to helping me stay afloat during the off season. If you don't have several jobs, you could be stuck in a dry spot. This also means that all of the jobs are part time, have few benefits, and you will be looking for insurance on your own. There is also a large amount of responsibility for relatively low pay.
