Associate Government Program Analyst Reviews

What is it like working as an Associate Government Program Analyst?

May 2015
Field Activities of an International Treaty.
Associate Government Program Analyst:
Pros: I love what I do. In college, I wondered what the day-to-day activities of implementing these large worldwide agreements looked like. Upon graduation, I was hired by a company to help a US military service implement and comply with a major arms control treaty. At first, I didn't care for it because the amount of work was so little; but, after a few years, I transferred within the company working on the same treaty. As the work increased, I realized I loved doing the daily activities to ensure that the US was in compliance with its international obligations - especially in my particular field. I get to see the ripple effect of decisions made at the field level, and watch it makes its way to the highest levels in US and international government.
Cons: I don't care for sitting in an office. I like the travel. I don't like that getting a job is based off who you know or how much education you have, because it's those with the most on-the-job experience who understand how to implement policy the best.
