Pros: I love it! I can create a creative concept and put everything in to place to tell a strong, visual story.
Cons: I like least being expected to be creative and get a lot of work done under strict time constraints.

Art Director:
If you work as a graphic designer for retail company or agency, it is a fast paced working environment, very hands on and sometimes long hours.
Need to be able to quickly multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
Lastly, this career requires you to be able to be multi-skilled and be able to do everything from concept to retouching.

Art Director:
Pros: Consistent work on creatively stimulating projects. Freedom to work in a variety of mediums. Constantly expanding skill set based on what projects require. Broadening personal portfolio and network. Casual work environment. Flexible schedule.
Cons: Project fluctuation. Pay fluctuation. Sometimes encounter a sense of isolation and miss the social environment of a typical workplace. Rush projects with a team of one. Stress level sometimes.

Pros: It's a job that requires creativity, it's fairly relaxed, you get to see your work out in the world.
Cons: Clients damage the work, bosses have trouble communicating, deadlines don't allow you to be as creative as you'd like.

Let Go Of Ego.
Art Director:
You are there for guidance and support. Provide people under your care with the support they need and allow them to find their own solutions. Be a positive, proactive leader. Allow people to make mistakes. Nothing is below you. Roll up your sleeves and get dirty. Show your people that you are invested in them and the work. Foster a collaborative atmosphere. Be able to say "I don't know" and never forget to say "please" and "thank you." It goes a LONG way.
