Cons: Little to no communication prior to first day on where I would be working, what I would be doing, and who I would be working with. All of this information was not told to me until after I started work.

Focus on Requirements.
Aerospace Systems Engineer in Rochester:
Know the requirements associated with your project. Know how each requirement will be verified. If a requirement references another document, then go to that document and learn all the requirements within it. You will be responsible for those. Only sentences with the word "shall" are a requirement unless otherwise specified. Understand the outline structure of the requirements document they help clarify the scope of the requirement. Put a requirements section in each document that is used in some fashion to verify a requirement (for example, include a requirements section in test plans test procedures and test reports. It is best to a requirement right into the section(s) in a test procedure in which it will be verified. It would be best to create a verification plan document that describes exactly how each requirement will be verified before any verification work begins.
