Aeronautical Engineer Reviews

What is it like working as an Aeronautical Engineer?

June 2020
Okay.
Aeronautical Engineer in Las Vegas:
Pros: Learning new stuff, working on aircraft. Coming up with new ideas. Helping people.
Cons: Management, opportunities for advancement, education and job training. Waste of time management, no order

Move Around for a Decent Raise.
Aeronautical Engineer in Fort Worth:
Pros: Large company developing some exiting products
Cons: Pathetic merit raises, easy work, not fulfilling, micromanaging. Most managers are just that, managers, they don't spend much time leading and learning about their employees, their skills, goals and aspirations, etc. Technical leads and managers are very rigid in their preferences and constantly micromanage work and don't allow employees to be accountable and own their tasks, this creates disengagement, destroys creativity, and creates a feeling of being boxed.

Decent.
Aeronautical Engineer in Glasgow:

Aeronautical Engineer:
I never knew whilst growing up what I wanted to do, I jumped from job to job, through many industries until I found something I was at home with. Growing up I was always amazed by things that fly and had a thing for taking toys a parts and trying to rebuild them. It wasn't until I was 18 when the two things come together and I realised that helicopters and planes can be taken apart and rebuilt by normal people. I applied to join the military and have been in the aeronautical industry now for 8 years fixing and rebuilding their big "toys" on a daily basis. Where I grew up, I was always taught that ends need to be met and that no job is beneath anyone, as I've grown up, those very words have made me graft hard and as I grow in my career, those words have become my backbone but I am now realising that no job is out of reach.

Find a Prof that you want, and needs your help.
Aeronautical Engineer:
Find a professor or professional advisor that can offer you experience in a project. This can give you the opportunity to benefit from experience of looking over the professor's shoulder, even if it means a bit of mind-numbing tasks like data entry or filing. Ask that mentor if you can take part in planning their experimental plans & designs. Understand that they may push back if you have no experience if their area; however, if you and your professor can teach yourself the design of experiments, and apply that to your coursework, balancing that your interests in technology development and experimentation can put you on a quick path to advancing your field of science or engineering.
