When starting out at a new job, be confident enough to ask for the salary that you believe is fitting. Do NOT accept a lesser amount. You will never be able to renegotiate a new base salary later on. All pay raises are calculated as a percentage of your base starting salary. So basically, if you start off with a figure that you feel is too low, you will struggle to attain the salary that you desire.
