Great Company, Understaffed Pharmacy.
Pharmacy Technician in Lorton, Virginia:
Pros: Pharmacy manager is very flexible with working my schedule around doctor's appointments. Pharmacists and (almost all) coworkers are fun to work with, and everyone works hard and pulls their own weight.
Cons: Pharmacy is constantly understaffed and we are incredibly busy, so we're always behind on... everything. This leads to more upset patients. Customers in this area feel entitled to monopolize much of our time, as if we can block of time for "appointments" in a store that fills thousands of prescriptions each week! We're treated both like a fast food restaurant and a healthcare provider, each in the worst ways. Verbal abuse from patients. And we're so busy that when we hire new techs it's impossible to train them well due to our understaffing and extreme busyness.
Stressful and Frustrating at times, but Best Job I've Ever Had.
Pharmacy Technician in Lorton, Virginia:
Pros: Kind and fair boss, hard-working coworkers, everyone gets along well, pays time and a half on Sundays, free cake for my birthday, employee coupons, don't have to get up really early or stay up very late
Cons: Customers that are rude, mean, demeaning, yell at me, think I'm stupid, and expect us to get their prescriptions ready as quickly as a Chick-fil-A prepares their order; Customers that call and/or come to the store and take up so much of the pharmacists' time that everything falls behind, Often not staffed enough during busiest times of day/week/month, no employee discount on groceries; open on Thanksgiving
