Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. Reviews
What is it like working at Petco Animal Supplies, Inc.?
Customer Service Specialist:
I love what I do. There are times where I’d like to do more than what I am told to do, but it’s a working progress. Pay is okay, would like to earn a bit more, but it’s what they have in store for you.
Working as manager.
Dog Grooming Salon Manager in Orland Park:
Pros: Get to work with animal and learn how to manage a salon. I've grown and learned how to speak to people and co-workers better. I've really learned the business part of grooming and what it takes to be a leader. I'm motivated to go even further.
Cons: The pay is the worst. I feel as a grooming salon manager we should definitely be paid more especially for the work petco requires. They have recently basically gave a pay cut especially for slow stores we do not even make commision and if we do its like 20.00. There's so many stipulations to getting paid a bonus or even the commission we have been getting for years. The pay is the worst and very discouraging.
Not that great.
Department Manager, Retail Store:
Pros: They give you a very good amount of paid time off. The customers are great and if your lucky your team will be too.
Cons: There aren't many people of color who are amongst the higher up petco employees. You will almost always be passed up for a job you want because they will give it to someone from outside of the company. Health insurance is extremely expensive. If your not a brown noser then a lot of the higher ups won't like you.
Hard but rewarding work.
Retail Department Manager:
Pros: Atmosphere, working directly with animals.
Cons: Stress level, flexibility, opportunity for raises is minimal.
Reliable job, crappy company.
Dog Groomer:
Pros: Benefits are alright. Good paid time off for vacations and sick or personal days. Love working with animals! Fairly flexible with scheduling (in the grooming salon).
Cons: The company seems to not give much care to employees regarding their concerns, input on growing business. In the grooming salon. Things go months without getting fixed or serviced. Severe lack of communication as to what is expected. No clear directions, ever. Expected to do more work then what is possible in a single shift. There are no incentives to do better.
