Northwestern University Reviews
What is it like working at Northwestern University?
Great Benefits, Great for Families.
Senior Systems Analyst in Evanston:
Pros: The benefits are exceptional. I have not found better any where else. If you have a family, the benefits are worth any downside to salary
Cons: Salary is not competitive, and depending on your department, professional development, promotions, and work/life balance can doffer drastically from other units. Some are VERY reasonable. Others... Not so much.
Not the best place to work.
Financial Administrator in Deerfield:
Pros: The ability to learn more through classes offered.
Cons: Lack of transparency and communication.
Data Analyst:
Good things about working here: The work is very interesting. Benefits are great. The culture among peers is good. Some serious complaints about working here: Management - there are some serious issues with staff time and project management. Pay - there is no pay transparency.
Education Pros and Cons.
Program Assistant (Unspecified Type) in Evanston:
Overall, their benefits package is amazing, which is why it's not too bad that salaries are lower than average for similar positions elsewhere, but the education benefits kill me!! They're also quite generous, but good luck trying to figure out how to use them if you just want to take a class or two for your own edification. You need to be enrolled as a degree seeking student and actually apply. The school of professional studies was also supposedly created for staff, but if you arent interested in the programs they offer, you're forced to look elsewhere and use the portable tuition benefit. Tuition benefits are up to 12K a year.
Education Benefits and Retirement Match.
Program Assistant (Unspecified Type):
Pros: 5% retirement match after 1st year. Educational benefits if you're interested in the particular programs offered. 3% raise each year unless you don't do well on your annual performance evaluation.
Cons: Dull, repetitive work, relatively low pay.
