Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. Reviews

What is it like working at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.?

Great opportunity.
Systems Administrator in Greenville:
Pros: Culture. And the people are great to work with!
Constant change and interesting, challenging subject matter.
Art Director in Carlsbad:
Pros: Interesting subject matter, developing my skills and delighting our internal clients, and the onsite cafe!
Cons: Boss isn’t the best listener, uphill battle against sexism, scheduling can be chaotic and unrealistic.
Research Scientist, Biotechnology:
Over worked, ridiculously under pay (50% less than my current pay at the new company), racists, double standards, unappreciated. Previous managers sexist, favor toward male employer also East Asians! High stressed! Thermofisher huggers management layers instead of hiring employees.
Senior Financial Analyst:
Great company with great benefits. It’s a truly global company that is growing very fast (a lot of M&A activity).
Manufacturing Engineer in New York:
Pros: solving problems
Cons: old equipment that frequently breaks down
Business Process / Management Consultant:
Jobs are set up as designated scapegoats. Beware. You are the only one with the cost reduction goal. You are set up to fail. Culture is toxic. Management is politically loaded and driven by quarterly numbers. Your team will perform to their metrics and win because you have no control of any resources.
Excellent Company For Career Growth.
Senior Financial Analyst:
Pros: Very supportive and career-nurturing organization, if you're willing to relocate for your growth. Pay for performance, flexible management, and focused on results vs. doing everything a certain way. Good benefits, bonus structure is fair, and corporate communication has improved over the few years I've been with the company.
Cons: HQ is in Boston, and many corporate/group/divisional offices are centered around this area. Many facilities scattered throughout the country and abroad, including new Life Technologies acquisition HQ in San Diego area. If you're in either area, growth opportunities abound. If you begin your career with Thermo Fisher anywhere else, be prepared for a relocation once you stagnate in your current position.
