Microsoft is a great place to start your career, at least provided that you find a solid team. Benefits are amazing, but vacation time could be more flexible. Overall, I think it is a great place to start a career in building software!
Cons: Bureaucracy, legacy code, and weird quirks in test infrastructure. Sometimes management lacks transparency on big decisions that are being made.
Not for everyone, but such a big company.
