Train Engineer Reviews

What is it like working as a Train Engineer?

February 2023
Train driving is fun but all the challenges we facing in the Western Cape is stressful and my salary being way below average is really demotivating.
Train Engineer in Cape Town:
Pros: Having my own space in my driving cab.
Cons: Having to continuously fight to be heard and waiting for so long for my salary to be rectified.

No added responsibility,
Train Engineer in Brisbane:
Pros: I like the ability to work alone, to be your own boss. Once I finish a days shift then thats it, I don't take my work home. Having quality time with my wife and son. Not having employers or customers to deal with, just getting them from one place to another. Knowing the job ahead of schedule and being able to plan ahead around work and not having to work overtime if not needed. Not being physically challenging at all after doing hard labour jobs previously, being able to just use the mental application is better on the body.
Cons: The constant changing hours. Working a 24/7 rotating roster affects the body. The problem of people who get in front of your train, accidentally and intentionally. The lack of social life working when others are catching up and going out.

Challenging.
Train Engineer in Durban:
Pros: Independence, fulfilling, owesome.
Cons: Long hours of work and the dangers that come with it.
