Shipper Reviews

What is it like working as a Shipper?

April 2015
Good pay because of overtime.
Shipper:
Pros: Time goes fast because you are constantly moving. The hours are long, which is good for money. Average of 56 hours per week. Get paid 15/hour after a year and a half as a shipping associate. People are friendly and helpful.
Cons: Can get fired for pretty much anything. Your work is calculated by a percentage system. Sometimes things get in your way that makes your percentage suffer, and there is nothing you can do about it. Consonantly thinking about your percentage, even if you are working your hardest. Supervisors are not professional. Some people are told to load trucks all day, which requires over head pressing 1-150 lb sofas and stacking furniture product from 10lb to over 200 lb. Some people pick product almost every day, which is twice as easy as loading. Both pickers and loaders get paid the same. You are told to use a dolly to move sofas, but no one does because it is not possible to make your percentage doing this, especially when picking product from the air levels. You can get fired for not using a dolly, even though nobody does. Not even the leads and supervisors. This is one of many ignorant rules that are made.

It's A Fun Job. Steady Moving And Looking At All The Products.
Shipper:
Pros: I work at my own station. No one to distract me from doing my job. The management will help if you need help without any questions. The management treats everyone the same. Not to mention that all workers get along.
Cons: The part of this job is walking. If it wasn't for my bad back and legs I would do just fine. But my boss lets me do other things to keep me from having to walk the warehouse.

It's Simple Without Being Boring; There Are Some Challenges.
Shipper:
Pros: My co-workers and bosses.
Cons: The lack of communication, structure, and discipline. Everything's kinda "loosey-goosey".
