Senior Programmer Analyst Reviews

What is it like working as a Senior Programmer Analyst?

December 2014
Computer science jobs are many, but some stifle creativity.
Senior Programmer Analyst:
Try to negotiate a position where you will have a measure of freedom to innovate and design solutions yourself instead of being force-fed a one-size-fits-all plug-in solution that someone far removed from your task has built. Also, beware companies who are heavy into 3rd party contractors for complex solutions and support.....at the end of the day you as the full-time employee will probably be left to clean up the mess and be held responsible even if you had little or no input to the original design or implementation. As with any other career, if you're not happy doing the work, it's just another pay-the-bills job.

Good For True Professionals.
Senior Programmer Analyst:
Pros: Depending on the project/customer you are on, it is mostly no-nonsense type of work. No politics. Work with really smart, intelligent team members. I've worked for Accenture in the past, and its like high school. Cliques, politics, idiotic kids out of college who have no business in IT, etc... CSC is the big leagues.
Cons: Vacation time could be better. Lots of reorganizing going on in the company.
