Sales Consultant, Retail Reviews

What is it like working as a Sales Consultant, Retail?

December 2018
Sales Consultant, Retail:
You have the opportunity to make a lot of money depending on the store you work at and the traffic it brings and the people you work with. The managers tend to discriminate or pick on people who haven't been at the store long so it's good to ask questions to the people who have been there the longest so you know what's right and what's wrong . A manager tried to only write me up for performance even though everyones performance wasn't good in all areas and mine was struggling in one. If your going to put my job on the line then everyone's is going too. I don't have time for petty bs so I contacted HR about the issue since it seemed to becoming from all levels of management. After that I have to say I haven't been harassed since. Although it's the holidays, another call will warrant if I see the same pattern of behavior again. Managers, you think you run the store but remember someone is always watching. Take care of your employees and stop acting like it's the end of the world if everyone doesn't do everything you want. Too bad that's life get used to it!

A Mix of Urban and Suburb.
Sales Consultant, Retail in Bristol:
Pros: It has all the benefits of working in a city, many different kinds of customers, lots of other businesses. However Bristol is a small city so there is less traffic and a sense of community.
Cons: Business can be slow at times because of small city population and other competing businesses and the area. There is crime in some areas of the city which is worrisome.

Sales Consultant, Retail in Columbia:
Pros: I love the amount of money I am making and the benefits that AT&T allow me to have. I get to interact with all types of people and learn a little bit about their backgrounds and their travel experience. What I like about AT&T is that it is never the same issue or situation. It is a forever changing environment that keeps me on my toes!
Cons: One thing I do not like about AT&T is that it is extremely micromanaged. On every single interaction with a customer, we are graded and rated on a series of scales. There are about seven different products we sale at AT&T, along with those seven products we also need to make sure we are going over every other customer experience step. Sometimes it can be a lot to remember and sometime even harder to get an angry or rushed customer to listen.

Makes you an Effective Multitasker.
Sales Consultant, Retail:
Pros: I enjoy interacting with different kinds of people and learning how to meet a variety of needs based on price point, personal taste, and order time frames. I like being on my feet for a large portion of the day and feeling accomplished at the end of the day when a sale is made.
Cons: I do not like the management at my current job. Unfortunately, management does not experience the day to day requirements of the staff and it makes them out of touch with the realities the workforce faces. Decisions are made that do not take into account what is best for staff and in turn staff morale and welfare. Management often knows less about current styles and trends than the sales consultants yet management makes the buying decisions. Policies are pushed that are counterintuitive and end up hurting customer satisfaction. Sales numbers are looked at too much and pressure put on staff to perform even though bridal retail is complex and the factors that lead to a purchase or more complex than management believes.
