Research Study Coordinator:
I encourage all employees to ask questions when learning a new role, or even when you simply don't understand something. It shows that you are confident (despite any thoughts to the contrary). Are you a new employee with a non-profit/for-profit company/hospital, etc? Have you been attacked with acronyms that flow seamlessly in and out of more experienced employees' speech? You are NEW. How are you supposed to know the culture, politics, rules, linguistics and all of the acronyms? If you hear a word you don't understand in context; if someone is explaining something too quickly (i.e. Badly), ask what they mean specifically and concretely. This shows that you are eager to learn, and are in the process of learning. If you've been an employee for >=1 year, you are STILL going to have questions. Your questions may be very informed (e.g. "My numbers say otherwise, can we...?"), or simply basic (e.g. "What is our official website?"). Asking questions shows interest and active learning.
