Research Laboratory Technician Reviews
What is it like working as a Research Laboratory Technician?
November 2018
Big city conveince, but not overwhelmingly large.
Research Laboratory Technician in Cincinnati:
Pros: Comfortable place to raise a family
Cons: Far away from extended family.
September 2017
Limited.
Research Laboratory Technician in Bethesda:
The field of animal research is highly competitive and very limited. After many years in the field I realized that I wanted to leave the field for something more stable with more opportunities. The job is extremely stressful and at the end of the day you are expected to go above and beyond to the extent that nothing you can possibly do can be considered above and beyond. You are an essential employee meaning that when there is a blizzard or something you are somehow expected to drive in feet of snow to get there because they rarely arrange hotels accomodations and will ask you to sleep in an army cot in the breakroom without paying you for the time you are away from your family. At the end of the day you are easily replaceable and just a number so they expect you to bend over backwards or get out of the way so someone else can.
July 2017
Low Expenses and Good Pay.
Research Laboratory Technician in Oklahoma City:
Pros: Housing is affordable and there are plenty of places to eat.
Cons: Other than the food, there is not must to be offered in Oklahoma City. The lakes are dirty and the dirt is red. There's not much else to be said.
June 2016
Continuous Learning.
Research Laboratory Technician:
Do work- every day. Push yourself to get better. There is always something new to learn, in the industry or with the company. You can always improve basic skills and make things better in the area you work.
June 2016
I'm entry level so I can't say much but..
Research Laboratory Technician:
Pros: Im mostly filling papers because of all the new people here for the summer. Theres not much soil to test when 25 people are working in a lab built for 5..
I'm glad I get to work by myself though, it's very quiet :) it's an easy job even when I am in the lab. It pays well too.
Cons: The workers they hire aren't professional in the least, some take their job seriously but I can't say the same for the majority. The same issues are brought up every single week about simply cleaning pop after yourself and filing out sheets properly.
December 2015
Research Laboratory Technician:
Pros: The field offers great opportunities to grow.
Cons: No negative thoughts about the position as of yet.
August 2014
Can't Do Much With Only A Bachelor's Degree.
Research Laboratory Technician:
Make sure you understand that you will probably need an advanced degree before you make a decent salary.
