Records Manager Reviews

What is it like working as a Records Manager?

June 2015
Busy day, interacting with two offices helping everyone.
Records Manager:
Pros: Various tasks to carry out daily which makes the day fly by. People are generally nice. I have benefits. I get to take the time I want off work without much hassle.
Cons: Pay hasn't changed much is 4 years. I only get 2 weeks holidays. Management does not have a good understanding regarding day to day operations and duties.
April 2015
Independent profession, daily challenges.
Records Manager:
Seek training classes for legal records.
July 2014
Master Of Your Own Work, Commander Of Nothing.
Records Manager:
Be prepared to know your stuff, as no one else in the law firm will know what exactly it is you do. If you have staff, be prepared to train constantly, as their positions are not ones in which someone makes a career of. Learn to work around non-existent budgets, fights for new equipment and questions about what it is you do all day long. This is a job you really have to enjoy doing for its own sake. Negotiate your salary well at the time you're hired because you will not receive the raises you expect, nor will your bonuses be a flashy as the attorneys or even the paralegals - even though you hold their hands through problems with software, processes and getting the client what they want.
November 2013
Very busy and often chaotic.
Records Manager:
Pros: Helping businesses succeed, lower bottom lines, and improve productivity and efficiency in administration and file management. Critical thinking and attention to detail, and oversight of a company as a whole.
Cons: Constant changes, every sale is different, no easy way to manage every situation as each situation is so different. Busy days mean utter chaos, which is what I manage. Slow days never leave enough room to catch up.
