I don't feel valued by the management hierarchy, 2-3 levels above.

Pros: I enjoy work with patients and families, working alongside my psychiatrist and clinician colleagues.
Cons: I am not being compensated financially for my many years of experience as a senior consultant (I am also a paediatric surgeon), and feel that my desire to be involved in the health of my Pacific people, who have disproportionate health issues, is not being acknowledged.

In my position it is important to understand the viewpoints of professionals from many other disciplines - lawyers, administrators, social service providers, etc. This requires active outreach toward those individuals as well as maintaining an open door policy for them to reach you.
