Challenging but rewarding
Project Manager, Engineering:
Pros: The responsibility. Being in control. Playing an integral role in shaping the team and refining their productivity. Tackling operational issues and having to think on your feet.
Cons: Being in charge can be quite lonely at times. Micro managing low performers / cynical members of the team and those adverse to change. Not being given sufficient training for the role I've been asked to do. Not enough business travel. Not having a company car despite there being sufficient justification for me to have one. Not having enough visibility of possible career development opportunities because my boss wants to keep me where I am.
