Project Control Manager:
Listen to the business units. Learn their challenges and their specific customers, business models, etc. Sometimes corporate tries to create one size fits all policies and processes which will cause undue stress across the organization.

Best Kept Secret
Project Control Manager:
Pros: High visibility position, project manager's or directors fireman, involved in all key project decisions, requires multitasking, full of responsibilities, opportunity to teach project members on project management principles, communicating at all levels within the organization, very rewarding when you turnaround projects heading in the wrong direction, responsible for development of key performance metrics, niche market where skills can be transferred across many industries. I currently have worked for the DOD, nuclear, refinery, chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and mining industries using the core skill sets.
Cons: Long hours, demanding, stressful, has to act as the bad cop, have to move throughout the industries to advance up the career ladder, tough work and life balance.
