What is it like working as a Product Development Engineer?

Fun Times!
Product Development Engineer in Toronto:

Cons: Harsh weather

Product Development Engineer:
I feel overworked and underpaid. I am becoming a lifeless, disponant clock-puncher. If you are ok with that then you will be fine, but if you have any ambition or if your ideas are different than VP Sam Collin's, than go somewhere else. Otherwise, show up, keep you head down and collect a paycheck.
Upper management REFUSES to define a vision. They don't what they want, they can't decide what they stand for, so implementing a strategy is useless and creating tactics just becomes another way to fire the fires that management won't empower/permit thier teams to prevent.
But production workers have it even worse than support departments. I feel worse for them... But I'm getting out ASAP. I want to improve, not just settle.

Product Development Engineer:
Most people are good. But there is too much work and not enough resources. Working overtime is usual and no compensation for overtime work. The salary is also low compared to competitors and the amount of pressure.
