Multi task!!!
Patient Care Coordinator:
Be ready for a very fast paced multi tasking job with little to no help. You will do the job of at least 2 people 90 percent of the time with not a second to yourself. High stress. Perks are the bonuses we get each month and working inside with climate control. Heavy phones, paperwork, and constant interruptions. Lucky if you get a lunch let alone a break. Need good phone ettiquete, lots of patience, be able to prioritize, assist with insurance verification, and good memory.

Be aware, proactive, take initiative, be sincere, be empathetic, modulate your voice, speak distinctly, utilize business English in writing and speaking, keep a smile on your face when speaking on the phone.

Patient Care Coordinator:
My job involves many things beyond the original scope of the position as a PCC. The plastic surgeons are wonderful people but by nature expect too much and want you to be perfect vs human. Be sure to have firm parameters and clear job description.

Patient Care Coordinator:
Additional tasks include proofing and report generating, credentialing doctors with insurance companies, keeping on top of employers online patient management system and collaborative software, additional light janitorial. Flexibility is important. Awareness of privacy considerations and responsibilities in open office environment.

Pros: Talking with different patients daily and focusing on their concerns and/or questions.
Cons: No always able to get ahold of a patient.
