Library Technician Reviews

What is it like working as a Library Technician?

October 2021
Constant justification.
Library Technician in Abbotsford:
Pros: Customer service (with both students & staff), gratification when providing resources.
Cons: The need to constantly justify that our job is important. The ignorance of other professional staff of our own education.
November 2019
Thoroughly enjoy my work.
Library Technician in Melbourne:
Pros: I work independently, term holidays
Cons: How I am paid below staff that are not qualified
November 2019
Enjoyable, exciting, feeling of accomplesment.
Library Technician in Geraldton:
Pros: Primary class book exchanges Accessioning books from new, to borrowing
Cons: No communication within school as to whats happening
June 2019
Anyone can change anything I create.
Library Technician in Henderson:
Pros: What I like most about my job has nothing to do with Roseman University. I like what I do because I believe I make it easier for patrons to find what they need.
Cons: What I like least about my job is that most staff have access to what I create and can make anonymous changes that look like those changes were originally created by me.
April 2019
Like the job, locked in pay.
Library Technician in Ellensburg:
Pros: I truly enjoy working with people. My job is primarily about service, even beyond the obligatory organizational facets. I find that aspect of the job quite rewarding.
Cons: The biggest issue is with lack of opportunity for growth. Pay is predetermined from a chart (since we are partially State funded), and once you reach the top step at your level, there is no chance (without seeking another open position, something that happens extremely rarely) of any pay increases in perpetuity (aside from an occasional cost of living increase). There is no further reward for continued loyalty beyond ten years.
July 2018
It'll Do.
Library Technician in College Park:
Pros: It's not Washington D.C. The brick buildings are nice. I have nice memories of going to college here.
Cons: The constant construction and real-estate development is very stressful because I don't think it should be happening. Traffic patterns don't seem well though out. Student traffic sometimes makes getting around a pain.
January 2017
Under appreciated.
Library Technician in Ontario:
Pros: Benefits.
Cons: You are compensated by level and not you mailed and quality of your work. Commute.
