What is it like working as a Junior Trader, Commodities?

September 2014
It's A Fast-Paced, Relationship-Based Game All About Value.
Junior Trader, Commodities:
Pros: It's all about people. It's all about forging long run relations with people with whom you trust and want to do business with. It involves working with people from all over the world. It is one of the most international professions you could be in. I get the chance to speak multiple languages, at least the phrases I know, every day. You work in exciting situations, involving making quick, intelligent decisions with limited time. You learn to be cool, calm and collected. To think rationally and execute with the finest acumen. You have to be bullish and have an urge to win. A strong understanding of supply and demand economics and market knowledge is highly recommended. You work with anything from Colombian government, to small-to-large scale businesses such as a Fire-extinguishing company in Israel. World economics, business leaders and an international lifestyle. You really become a better person.
Cons: The job is a lifestyle. Blackberry e-mail 24/7. Stressful situations often. Wining and Dining can get to your gut. It can be tense. The feeling of losing money.
