Information Technology (IT) Architect Reviews
What is it like working as an Information Technology (IT) Architect?
November 2018
Information Technology (IT) Architect:
The company offers a great range of opportunities to grow your career in whatever way you might want it to go. However, all the red tape to do anything can slow down that growth.
It's a great company for recent graduates, with training available and plenty of opportunities but for experienced people the grass might be greener elsewhere.

Small city, but great commute and community.
Information Technology (IT) Architect in Sioux Falls:
Pros: I like the short commute and being close to family
Cons: Small town means a little less to do
October 2018
Low cost of living and low culture oppurtunities.
Information Technology (IT) Architect in Oklahoma City:
Pros: Low cost of living. Anyone making six figures is relatively rich.
Cons: The place is a GOP Republican red-state wasteland. Teachers protest in the literal streets from poor pay, city streets are poor, and there are seriously streets with 4 churches all right next to each other. No one makes anything but piety and hubris. Oklahoma believes strongly in the prosperity gospel and fail to recognize the connection between optimal political choices in the ballot box and their direct way of life. If 75% of the city were wiped away in a tornado, the impact it would have on the real world and the Nation's GDP would be negligible. Entire sectors of the economy (biotech, for example) are nearly completely unrepresented.

Move on if where you are is stagnant.
Information Technology (IT) Architect:
If you aren't constantly learning and innovating new solutions, and pushing outside of your comfort zone, architecture may not be for you. It can be tough at times, but once you adopt the mantra of "see problem, fix problem, rinse repeat", and lose the fear of speaking up when you see something wrong, whether it's your problem or someone else's, you'll find every day is fun and involving.
It's also important to accept your advice may not always be taken up, and try to choose what your priorities are carefully, and as much as you can, with confidence and independence. When you see a culture of stagnation appear and that the focus is only on problems that make others look good when solved, which may hurt that business or it's staff, leave or choose not to work with that client again. Try to gain buy in where you can, but don't try for too long, you will only harm your career by staying when there is no interest or buy in for solving real problems.
