The Company has a good idea for a product but implementation is almost always rocky for internal projects and internal IT is always viewed as a cost. Several people in leadership think they have the best and only ideas so it can be a challenge to really grow into creating your own area of expertise because you have to follow their ideas/paths only. Some managers are not equipped to be managers, either due to maturity or because of a lack of process so they make up their own and use the lack of the process as an excuse for why something they should be doing, wasn't done.
