Why Appreciation Is An Important Factor.

Salary is not everything. Appreciation in the workplace is also a definitive factor that effects employee performance and retention. Understand first yourself and what makes you tick, because this will help you a lot in landing a career that you will enjoy staying at. Are you motivated by pep talk? Ask your potential employer/direct boss if they can do that for you. Are you motivated by gifts? Ask your interviewer if they do give special incentives/plaques of appreciation for doing a good job. Are you motivated by team effort? Ask if you will be working with a team and how well do they work as a team.
Understanding what motivates you will greatly affect how you perform in a business/company. Despite all the efforts of a company to provide you with a good compensation if they cannot meet your motivational trigger all will still feel dry for you. And sooner or later you will start looking for a new job.
