Head Of Performing Arts.
Head Teacher:
Pros: A wide range of activities within my job provides huge variety. I am a: - teacher. - curriculum coordinator. - leader of learning. - program developer. - project manger. - event manager. - music tuition manager. - concert band director. - choir director. - music arranger. - musician performer. - governance manager. - compliancy auditor. - HSC marker. - supervisor and trainer of trainee teachers. - mentor and supervisor of new teachers. As a teacher, there is a huge satisfaction in teaching and working with students. As a head of creative subjects, making music or dance or play acting is fun in itself, but more so because you are helping students to develop and grow as creative beings, as well as improve their self esteem. Usually, colleagues are like minded and untied in their goals.
Cons: Increasing workload; stress; at times, unreasonable time lines. Management's lack of caring about their human resources. Much of society has no idea about the workloads, stresses and increasing requirements of the teacher. They are miscellaneously seen as having a 9 - 3 workday and 10 weeks of annual holidays. Many people forget that the course work needs to be prepared, resources and tasks created, tasks and student homework marked, in addition to all the extra-curricular activities that teachers run and professional development.
