Cons: Since I'm the only one who knows what I'm doing ~ it's hard to get things done when the boss requires me to do things that aren't related to GIS.

Cons: The traffic can be a challenge to deal with depending on the time of day one commutes and what direction on the interstates one travels.

GIS is valued at this government. Leadership appreciates and funds the teams at different agencies and most agencies focus on career and educational development. This is a great place to work if you want to develop skills and stay ahead of the game. You can coast here, but your co-workers will not appreciate it and you will be relegated to boring jobs. Don't expect to make any drastic changes your first few months, but the county is open to change if you have the patience for it.
