What is it like working as a Flight Attendant?

A total lifestyle change!
Flight Attendant:
Long haul flying is fun but it takes it's toll on just about every area of your life. Family, friends, sleep, health. As air travel has become more competitive, the role of a flight attendant has changed from looking after people's comfort and safety to, business manager, sales executive, company liaison, I'm sure there's more. The financial rewards have decreased and the benefits afforded to us in terms of special rates when flying as a passenger have are very restrictive. You must have almost superhuman abilities of patience, but to be fair when those patience skills succeed the rewards are almost tangible. You really have to love working as part of a team in close quarters - aircraft galleys are tiny! Be prepared to look good at all times. Some customers love to talk and you will often be the one they choose to share intimate secrets with during a long overnight flight. Be a good listener. People don't always want a solution to the things they talk to you about, just an ear.
