What is it like working as a Family Counselor?

January 2014
It Is A Unique Position To Illustrate To The Public.
Family Counselor:
Pros: Meeting a great variety of people each day, having at least 3-4 appointments each day. Fulfilling their need to be prepared for the final journey in this life, to understand that there is a cost that is constantly increasing, slightly each year sometimes ahead of inflation. I prefer to meet people after a funeral has taken place to help them understand the road ahead of matters that need to be taken care of right away, to start the estate process on the right foot. I provided a complete kit and computer applications that were filled out and signed that day. This would lead to essential estate planning for themselves, with a better understanding of what they just went through.
Cons: Change happens constantly. It represents the initials of the company, SCI (Sudden Change is Imminent.) The first two years were heaven working here, then a change of managers, staff, programs. Each year brought something new, you had no time to get used to the way things are changing when they introduce more change, heavy on administration. Now they have changed again and outsourced my position. New managers, new systems. I am tired and do not wish to change any longer.
