What is it like working as a Dental Technician?
March 2014
Dental Technology U.K. - Think Twice As A Career Option.
Dental Technician:
Avoid rural areas like the plague. Many employers prefer you not to be qualified and consider you to be a threat;
There are very, very few employers nationally in any of the dental technology fields. If you find yourself, as above, working in a rural area and end up working for a slave driver it's not like you can resign and go and work for someone else down the road. Your nearest available job could be 1-2 hundred miles away.
Look at the number of jobs available nationally via the Governments Job search database. Warning you'll be shocked! Approximately 20 jobs are available at any one time in the whole of the UK in the entire dental technology profession. Narrow this down because you'll be very likely to specialize in one field only. If, for example, like myself you specialized in say prostheses... the average number of jobs advertised nationally, at any one time is 4!
Think twice when considering D T as a profession in UK. It's a dud "profession."
