The thrill of seeing people reach new heights
Career Counselor:
Pros: I love helping people find their next place of employment and be able to provide a good life for themselves and their families. I also enjoy matching people with jobs and employers. I LOVE seeing people realize there is hope out there, especially after they have been knocking on doors for months without any answers. I enjoy sharing different resources and methods of job searching. Each individual and each group is so different and brings its own challenges. I learn and grow from each person and group I work with. This job is never stagnant, but is very dynamic. I love my job!
Cons: I prefer to work with people who are not afraid to take chances or risks. I have those who sign up for my programs because how they go about looking for work obviously does not work, yet they are hesitant to try something new. This mentality disrupts the rest of the class who are nervous to try something new, but willing. It breaks down their confidence. This is one of the main things I don't like about my job. Once I convince them to try something new, they see the value of it, but some people are headstrong and don't trust the program.
