Pros: It is a very stressful job. It requires height management skills.
Cons: Everything os bad about that position. Way too much responsibility.

Pros: Range of work activities. Lots of contact with people and personalities. Investigating opportunities for new markets is exciting. Travelling to meet suppliers and customers. Developing great new products. Finding solutions for markets. Recruiting great staff. Unravelling legal issues. Supporting a very busy, growing, successful company. Great colleagues and customers. Making the world a safer place.
Cons: Meeting obligations at times that are not in my best interest. Trying to deal with negatively geared people.

The key to business development is to really focus on a niche, area or type of customer you want, research and find who matches that persona and the start the process of engagement. It takes time, but the secret is to continuously follow up, stay in contact and eventually the right type of customer will need your service or product and you should be top of mind in the relationship built.
