Automobile Detailer Reviews
What is it like working as an Automobile Detailer?
May 2017
Just look somewhere else.
Automobile Detailer in Patterson:
This place depends on a crew of employees to get the job done, except the most important department, which is detailing. This company believes in milking its employees out of every ounce of effort and hard work in the service department, wth no reward, in order to keep payroll down and bottom line up. In doing so, the detail shop and department has become a laughable, disgusting, and down right unprofessional environment to work in. There is no proper ventilation, therefore when working with the diesel powered pressure washer, exhaust fumes build up above the shop, creating a layer of diesel exhaust clouds above the shop. When the hot summer days come around, temperature can exceed well into the triple digits while outside is below the triple digit mark. Communication does not existent between sales and service, creating a hectic and disorganized functionality, meaning when detailing a vehicle there is no knowing whether another vehicle is coming or the current job can be done properly.

Piecework can be slave wages.
Automobile Detailer:
Pros: Independent working environment, opportunity to make your check larger with work ethic.
Cons: Low paying piecework for some vehicles. As low as $3 for a "service wash" that the company charges $9 for. Takes roughly 40 minutes to get it done right. Involves a full outside body wash and dry, with a topical quick inside vaccuming. Bug removal, and door jambs/windows.
Company charges big for certain jobs, but pays the employee barely a third of the profit for all of the work.
