Aquatic Biologist Reviews

What is it like working as an Aquatic Biologist?

August 2020
Great opportunities but low salary.
Aquatic Biologist in Calgary:
Pros: Management trusts their employees and gives them the freedom to work on their own and to collaborate.
Cons: Hemmera frequently expects you and bills you out at a role profile one to two levels higher than your current role. This can be an ok strategy as it prepares staff for eventual promotions, however pay is no where near commensurate.
June 2020
Aquatic Biologist in Shrewsbury:
Pros: Being on different lakes everyday. Being trusted to do my job with little to no oversight.
Cons: Being alone on lakes everyday.
November 2019
Many opportunities.
Aquatic Biologist in Calgary:
Pros: Flexible hours and opportunities for advancement
Cons: Head office forgets about their other offices. Company lacks long term vision.
January 2019
Aquatic Biologist in Markham:
Pros: Close to Toronto and great restaurant selection
Cons: Expensive to live here and the closest highway is a toll road
January 2019
Working hard to keep our river and community beautiful.
Aquatic Biologist in Kyle:
Pros: I am able to use my education to give back directly to the community in which I received it.
December 2017
Low pay, little upward mobility.
Aquatic Biologist in Houma:
Work for the government if possible. Do anything you can to stand out - request extra assignments or duties to try and move up to management or you'll be mired in the same job and pay scale forever.
December 2015
Ecology Haven.
Aquatic Biologist:
Pros: I truly enjoy understanding wetland habitats and doing what I can to improve them from the poor/healthy state that I found them in. If I can restore a habitat back to its natural form, then I have succeeded in my work.
Cons: Office Work.
