Information Technology (IT) Director Reviews
What is it like working as an Information Technology (IT) Director?
January 2019
Information Technology (IT) Director:
Of all the companies I have worked for Crescent Heights has been the most rewarding professionally and personally. Hard work is expected and rewarded. Dont expect typical corporate culture as this is a sink or swim environment.

Information Technology (IT) Director:
I've been at UnitedHealth Group over 13 years and its been a rewarding experience. I have worked in both Optum and UnitedHeathcare segments holding 5 positions, with 10 different managers, and had 3 promotions.
Pros include fair pay, pto, benefits, and horizontal & vertical mobility if you are willing to put in the work and aren't afraid to try new things. It is easy to make a career out of an enterprise with 6 x Fortune 100 and 1 x Fortune 200 sized business. When In 2005 UHG was $46B in Revenue and #37 on the Fortune 500 today UHG is over $226B and Fortune #5 that's amazing growth and tremendous opportunities it creates. UHG isn't done growing by a long shot. Other pros include genuinely caring for customers, communities, and they really are trying to make healthcare better for everyone.
Cons include standard big company processes that need improvement, constant reorgs and changes so if you like steady state or are faint-hearted your in for a surprise. Like most companies your happiness at work will depend a lot on how much you and your manager get along.

Information Technology (IT) Director:
The projects were good in IT until this new administration came in 1.5 years ago. All strategic investment stopped and no new technology projects are being approved. So IT staff had to be slashed.
The new administration let go all of the previous leadership and hired in all new team with no transition from previous administration.
Pay and benefits were good but there have been no raises for past several years and promotions take 2-3 years for approval.
