The best value colleges North Dakota can claim have strong engineering programs. North Dakota State University, once known as North Dakota Agricultural College, is a public university in Fargo, North Dakota, with almost 15,000 students enrolled. The Thundering Herd has grown by leaps and bounds in the past fifteen years. Before 2000, they had never had more than 10,000 students enrolled. In recent years they have increased the selection of majors offered and grown the campus quite a bit.
The University of North Dakota is home to some famous alumni, including Fight Club author Chuck Klosterman and LA Lakers coach Phil Jackson.
